    Welcome to the forums

I'd have to question your choosing the X4 over an i5 system, but I know people who would take the opposite view, so I'll let you off on that one, although I don't really know AMD chips that well, Carbon will be able to say if thats a good one or not.

Case is.. budget, you could get better airflow from a slightly pricier one, but if your not bothered, it won't matter too much just be noisier and youll just keep an eye on temps.

Now the GPU. Definitely don't buy a 5830.

It is specced slap bang in-between the 5770 and 5850 but priced close to the 5850.

Go one way or the other, but not the '30. With your budget I'd pay the slight extra for a 5850.

A DVD drive's a DVD drive, no issue there.

    I'd get a Samsung F3 or a WD 640 rather than that 500.

For $13 more you can get this RAM from G. Skill which I've read only good reviews of.

The motherboards fine, unless of course you do change for an i5 system, when it wouldn't work

Hello and thanks for the reply!

I dont really know too much about this, i just know basic things like ddr3 is better then ddr2 etc.
When i asked for a build for a gaming cmputer somewhere else i was given two, and people explained that this build was better for gaming, and explained that I5's are better for everything except gaming then Phenoms. This is the other build they listed:

    Hi.
do you have an MSY computer store near you?

    they have very good pricing.
your HDD is $56 at msy
    PSU $110
    MoBo $132 (gigabyte P55 UD3, not Asrock)
    Case $80
    CPU $227
    GPU $185
    RAM $122
total $912 vs $1029 from tech buy. you could even put the savings towards a better GFX card

    What is your monitor's resolution?
"I loved the P182 so much that, when my wife's system was all noisy and needed all sorts of cleaning, I bought her one. Then, when I wanted a cat, I bought a P182. The P182 is not a cat per se, but it's still an excellent buy."

1600x1200 is pretty good, if you're happy with it keep it around.

Im not too worried about the price, i just want to know if i will be able to max left 4 dead 2 and crisis with my build or not, and whether or not my parts will work good together and for a long time.

left 4 dead 2, easily, that doesn't require much to max out. if you play at lower res, the 5770 MIGHT max out crysis. I'm really not too sure though.

Well, my build seems to be a bit crappy, so can anyone here provide a better gaming build?

Until you answer this nobody can give you accurate advice.

Crappy compared to what? Seems decent enough to me although I would NOT get that antec300. It's a small case and I think it would be hard to build in. Have you read this? It pretty much answers a lot of your questions.

I read it and this seems like the most suitible option for me:

    Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-P55M-UD2
CPU: Intel Core i5-750 Lynnfield 2.66GHz
HSF: COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus
    RAM: G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
    GPU: SAPPHIRE 100269HDMI Radeon HD 4890 1GB
    PSU: Antec CP-850 850W
    Optical: Sony Optiarc Black 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB
    Case: Antec P183
    TOTAL: $1003 before $45 in rebates = $958

But this is $1003 american right? Is there an Australian retailer who supplies these parts?

I don't know. Where did you get those prices from? I really don't know offhand the exchange rate. the prices you put in your earlier posts looked high to me, but then Katana has already let me know that computer parts cost a tad bit more down under..........
