Well i`m from romania and that`s where i bought it from, and i haven`t contacted the vendor yet, if this guy from abit`s tech support doesn`t give me any good drivers i`ll call the vendor and talk to them, but i don`t think they`ll change it.
And i don`t know how old it is,but it was new when i bought it.

The suppliers I use here in the UK would take it back, you cannot use it, and it's not your fault, so what good is it to you.

But in your first post you said XP install crashes?

So if it works... what the hell is the problem?

You clearly say in your first post you get a blue screen crash.

A SATA HD will only work with SATA drivers, so, if your PC works then the drivers are installed fine.

If you can run XP, games and applications there is no problem that I can see.

My SATA HDD worked without SATA drivers when I "disabled" SATA in the BIOS.
Perhaps you should make sure SATA is enabled in the BIOS and then try to install with the SATA drivers, or just use it as an IDE drive even though it's much slower..

I'm pretty sure a SATA cannot run in ATA mode as it is physically impossible to connect it to a IDE channel.

If you want i can make a print screen from EVEREST and i can show how how my disk is shown in the ATA pannel and at the device type description it`s show as SATA.
