Unhappy About Hardware In The Packard Bell 7650 Computer, Any Help Would Be Appreciated!

Hi All
I am new on here so please bare with me if I sound like a dunce.

I know quite allot about Software on computers but Hardware is Another World especially as computers are getting more complicated these days! (what has happened to the simple computers where you can simply replace Hardware or Software sometimes without any complications?:o )

Anyway I am really thinking about buying the Packard Bell 7650, AMD Athlon 64 x2 4600 Processor + 19" Philips TFT Monitor which is on PC Worlds Website. The only downside for me is that it has a AMD Athlon 64 x2 4600 Processor as I have always had Intel Processors in my previous computers which have always been reliable and quick.

My question is: could I replace the AMD Athlon 64 x2 4600 Processor with the Intel Core Duo Processor if I wanted to? if yes would I need to get an up to date Mother Board etc?

I have just thought of some small questions so here they are:

Could I replace the two graphics cards (Geforce 7600GT) which are in the Packard Bell Computer with something like the ATI Radeon 1650SE DVI Graphics Cards?
What are PCI Slots and how many would you recommend?
What make of computer would you say is the best out of: HP (HP 7775 Also found on PC Worlds Website) And Packard Bell? if you recommend a different make please feel free to jot it down.

Many Thanks For Reading This And Hopefully Replying To It. Very Much Appreciated When You Do!;) :o :D

Yours Sincerely,

Oliver

1) You're not going to be able to simply change the cpu as the socket on the motherboard is of a propriety nature for AMD. This would be the same for a mobo with an Intel cpu. You will also need to replace the board.

But doing this would probably negate your Windows Licence. This could potentially be resolved by ringing MS and asking for a new licence due to an upgrade.

Doing this WOULD void your warranty though.

2) ATI 1650's are lousy cards to be frank, a single 7600gt is more powerful than it.

You only need two Nvidia cards in SLI if you play games optimised for two cards. If you don't then it's a waste having two cards.

Lastly, why not shop around? Based upon your budget you could purchase an awesome pc, optimised for your type of usage. With an Intel Core2 cpu.

Thank You Very Much For The Information Alex Very Much Appreciated sounds like allot of stuff to do just to replace the processor. The Only problem for me is that I live in the South West and the only people we can really trust is PC world.
What Other Company’s can I trust? I know you are not supposed to advertise company’s on here so shall I give you my email address? or how shall we communicate?

Kind Regards,

Oliver

I'd have a look at PCSpecialist, awesome customer service (have a look at the feedback section on the site)

www.pcspecialist.co.uk

Also:

www.overclockers.co.uk

www.komplett.co.uk

All good sites.

Spec up a pc and if i can help further let me know. :)
