Default advice on buying

im going to help out a friends buy a computer and hes getting it from eg currys pc world etc etc were shopping about basically i want to know what are good makes i know toshiba hp are good any other makes that are good

EDIT: and also i think all hes going to be using pc for is internet and office apps just small tasks, so i persume go for a cheap intel core 2duo and 1-2gb of ram

Default advice on buying

Yeah, you don't need much. Just buy the cheapest machine with a C2D. You can sometimes build it yourself cheaper, but the chances of that decline as you're looking at less "enthusiast" setups.
