well the new oc i build appears to have stopped working here is the story
well i was on ubuntu and the scren just stopped and turned black, i rebooted and nothing loaded so i unplugged the psu and re plugged it then i got a message about going into safe mode and system clocks, i assumed it was my graphics card (8800 ultra) so i resat that and now when i boot i get a squiel that doesnt stop and nothing loads on the screen, is this graphics card??
and my new monitor is due tomorrow *screams in disbelief*

Squeal usually means your GPU power cable is loose or disconnected.

It does sound like your gpu is playing up, norm when theres just a constant squeal it means either graphics is fcuked or badly seated or not getting any power from psu

oh wait, the screen just froze when i booted ubuntu and it isnt loading anything again, should i get the card sent back to overclockers? i cant thinki what else it can be

but the basics are often overlooked
have you tried re-installing all drivers and re-seating the card or the ram?

theres a point ill try it from the ubuntu live cd, i edited my menu.lst and it wont let me boot into windows so i boot a live cd and fix the grub and then try windows

oh wait it cant be the drivers because i get artifacts at the bios and most of the time i cant see the bios screen
