hmm i would like to oc my processor to 3.5 (from 2.4) and the asus seems worthy but the evga looks better, has faster ram (i think!?) and is cheaper ? can anyone seek out a good comparison of the two

I've seen a number of reviews on both but haven't seen a direct comparison so far. Doesn't mean there isn't one though.

i have heard quite a few good stories about but but also one or 2 bad ones. mainly that the north and southbridge heat sinks arent good enough or something?

Not on the striker....

Besides, high oc's can require modding extra fans regardless of mobo as ambients come into it, and also air volume and flow. Also the hsf.

Although, I've never had an issue with the original Striker.

Also, I don't think, should you want to go triple sli, that you can do it on anything less than a 8800GTX. So the GT is a no-no.

But come on, the only reason you'd go triple is bragging rights.

There's absolutely no space for SLI anyway, considering the budgets most people have to spend, and the lack of support in games. Plus you'll need a top end cpu, overclocked, to avoid bottlenecking 3 gpu's of such calibre.

i was thinking about the xfx but upon closer inspection it only supports ram up to 800mhz where as the evga does up to 1200.

i would never go tri sli but the 780i is better than the 680i is more that the fact it supports tri sli

woulnd the q6600 class as a high end cpu anyways ?

Anyway, no, the Q6600 is not a top end cpu. More mid-range at stock speeds. But it's an awesome oc'er, especially the 'go' revision. Just by changing the stepping Intel have created a beast.

Come the time more multithreaded apps appear on the market, and games, it'll stand you in good stead with a quad.
