| Hi guys, I've been saving up a bit of money, and was thinking about upgrading parts of my PC, but I'm not really very knowledgeable about what's good and what's not, so I was wondering if anyone could take a quick peek at what I've got (according to Belarc), and tell me if there was anything glaring that could be improved? Thanks! | Nothing glaring stands out Jimmy, its a nicely balanced system. I assume you're running XP? so the 1gb ram is a good amount. The 7600gt is an ok card. Case dependent you could change out the stock intel cpu heatsink and fan as a 3.6ghz p4 runs very toasty, for a better model. Are you just wanting to upgrade for upgrade's sake or are you having any problems?

| Actually, that's not true, at times it can randomly run very slow - not quite freeze, but run very slow. And if I'm watching a DVD or playing a PC game, I'd say at least three or four times in the space of say, an hour, it will suddenly get very laggy and jerky, and then catch up with itself again. Could this be a cooling problem? |

| Depending on how much you have saved you could just continue saving for a new custom build, get a complete overhaul..

| Hi Jimmy, Is your internet connection being highly active when your computer is lagging? might be worth scanning for spyware etc. |

| Not that I'm aware of. I mean, I'm connected to my home wireless 24/7, so I am always on the internet, but I've never noticed a lagging problem when using the internet. It's usually when watching a DVD or playing a game, occasionally it gets really juddery and then catches up with itself. |

| I've run a load of spyware programs, etc, the problem seems to still be persisting a little. Any more suggestions? Also, I finish my first summer job tomorrow and will get a big fat pay-cheque so will have some spare cash. Even if I'm upgrading for upgrading's sake, I'm just curious as to what people thought I should address first...? |

| By the way, probably a stupid question - it says that there are two 512gb memory modules, one in slot DIMM0 and one in DIMM1 - does this mean it's dual core? |

| RAM/memory is seperate to the processor/CPU. You have dual channel RAM/memory as you have two matched sticks (2x 512MB). Dual core is a reference to processors/cpu and has nothing to do with RAM/memory.
