doesnt matter what im doing, sometimes ill be playing a game or watching a movie and my screen will go black as if it were going into sleep/standby and the computer still seems to be running but i get no video or sound no matter what i was doing. and a slightly different issue, sometimes ill be playing a game or somethin and my computer will freeze? the screen will go black but the computer still seems to be running but it sounds as if its processing/running a program but again no sound comes out :\ ive taken the side off the case and made sure everything was seated well and checked all the connections everything seems in order, sorry for the long post, thanx in advance for any suggestions/help :)

Could be a lot of things, overheating, PSU, etc. Check your temps and go from there.

Going from the specs you posted in your thread on the "Intro..." sub-forum, I' guess he in-game freezing was down to hardware capability - what's the game(s) you're trying to run, and has it always done this?

Try it on min settings as well if it isn't already.

As for the monitor going black, I'd get a new one anyway. And 80% likelihood is that'll sort it. If not, we can address that then - but I really hate to think of anyone using a CRT in 2010.

well, to close this thread, i appreciate all input, i discovered a fan not workin, took the side of the case off, it hasnt had any issues since that which was a few days ago, bought a new fan today from bestbuy, installed it and now should be good to go in the overheating department, gave the inside a good dusting while had the side off :) as for the crt monitor, yes, i am workin on replacing it as soon as possible, im not going into 2010 with a crt monitor :P if im lucky i might go into the new yr with a whole new computer even ^_^ well thanks again for all advice and suggestions :) post closed! ^_^
