For the above, could anyone recommend what I should look for in a digital camera? Also it needs to be easy to setup with my PC.

It really depends on what you want. I think that you need to look at four megapixels and above these days. Although I still use 3.2 Mp and that is good enough to sell for stock photography. Then it is a matter of what kind of price you can afford and whether you just want a fully automatic point and shoot or something a bit more fancy. Personally I favor something like the pentax optio because it is small, tough and the auto settings work very well. You can keep it in a pocket or purse and it will work with just two button presses to snap whatever you see with adequate quality. But it also has just enough features to do justoce to a careful chosen shot from small insect to big sunset.

Canon have a good range, as do Sony, and both are well known for their excellent image quality. They aren't quite "professional" cameras, but they take a fantastic picture that will leave you wondering how you managed on less than 5 Megapixels or with 35mm film.

Shop around and see what you can afford. I've got a 4.2 Megapixel camera that is great, though now you can probably get a 5 or even 6 for the same money that will be again a big improvement on this.

The basic answer to this is don't go for the top of the line version as these will cost a lot. Try getting last years version on clearance and today you should be able to get 4 or 5 megapixel cameras on the cheap.

Stick with the names you know... Sony, Canon, Fuji and HP as they are all reliable. Stay away from the 2nd and thrid tier brands as you will almost always get what you pay for!
