Hey I'm not really all that great with computers hence why I'm here asking this buuuut today I had my PC on, went downstairs to get some breakfast and when I came back upstairs again it had frozen. Then I restarted it and it got as far as the windows loading screen and it Blue Screened me saying something about UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME when it blue screens. I've looked up a few things about this error but so far all I've seen is that it requires me to either solve my problem through windows help which I can't get onto, the run command prompt which i also can't get onto, safe mode & restore to last working point which again I can't get onto because it constantly crashes at the windows loading screen. I have seen something about requiring an upgrade from a 4 pin (thing) to an 8 pin (thing) (can't remember what the thing is :D). Currently I'm using Windows XP Professional OS and I don't exactly have the discs required to reinstall it.

If anyone could help or at least educate me a little more as to what's going on with my PC I'd be grateful. This is the first time my PC has done anything like this before. It was running perfectly fine before this. Here is a rough spec list (copying it from Xfire):

Manufacturer:
MSI
Processor:
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4800+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~2.5GHz
Memory:
2048MB RAM
Hard Drive:
250 GB
Video Card:
NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT
Monitor:
Plug and Play Monitor
Sound Card:
Realtek HD Audio output
Speakers/Headphones:
Keyboard:
USB Root Hub
Mouse:
USB Root Hub
Mouse Surface:
Operating System:
Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)

I have a feeling this may be a hardware error but I'm not quite sure.

this is abit teckie but ill say encase you no how to install harddrives

take harddrive out (with blue screen problem on it)
put in another pc and set it as slave
boot pc up
go to my computer write cick on the slave harddrive ( with blue screen problem on it)
select scan and fix errors on drive
restart pc..it will scan and fix a errors on drive and after boot up again..
tern pc off take the harddrive out/put back in original pc set it as master and it should boot up and load windows perfectly.. well mine did

or you could re install windows but you dont have a disk but that would be your last option

did you install eney New drivers recently ? driver conflict can also culse this problem
if so do above and also find the driver u installed on that harddrive and delite it i have even herd of windows updates make this problem
