Default Boot Problem

Wasn't sure which forum to post this in so just figured here.

I'll start from the beginning
About 6 months ago my PSU blew up. Sparks and smoke.
I got a friend to replace it and all was fine until about 5 weeks ago..
The computer is left off over night come the morning on boot up it can do one of three things.
The more popular one is the screen would lock up and the graphics distorted ie vertical broken blacks and grey lines on screen.
The next popular one is the computer would boot and half way through reboot its self.
The last one it would boot up and then turn its self off and then will not start at all.

The last one, if I change the power lead fuse it would come on again.

In all of these situations the 2nd attempt on rebooting, the computer would come on fine and I can use the computer for 12 hours straight doing what ever I want, be it playing WoW or just browing web.

One last thing I should add, on changing the fuse it works fine but I also found I had put a fuse in that I had on another occassion taken out as blown.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Default Boot Problem

The reason it works after changing power leads is because you are disconnecting the machine from the mains and the power drains out of it and things reset.

In future just unplug it for 5 mins, changing the lead is irrelevant.

You 99% have a hardware fault, check all fans to make sure nothing is overheating.

As you had a PSU go I would be pretty sure it has effected your motherboard and/or CPU.

Time to try another new PSU, failing that a motherboard then CPU.
