Hi all, hope you are all okay. .

My problem is this.
I bought CoD4 nearly a year ago and I am wanting to buy Far Cry 2 & CoD5. Problem is my PC won't be able to run these games. In fact it is now struggling to run Half Life 2, in fact, when I try to play it, it just kicks me out of the game and dumps me in front of my desktop.

Aaaaaagggghhhh!

I think I need an upgrade.
Current kit is as follows, (no laughing please),
XP Home Edition,
Mobo is an MSI MS-6590,
AMD Athlon 2400+
1024MB ram,
ATI Radeon 9600 XT AGP,
SB! Live,
Hanns.G HU196D,
250GB HDD & 550W PSU.
............................................................ ............................................................ .....

I know I need at least a new motherboard, processor, graphics card & possibly more. Maybe even a new case, keyboard etc., & all on a budget of up to £500...........is this possible?
Am I better off upgrading & self assembling (with your help most probably), or just buying a new PC.
I like XP but all new stuff seems to come with Vista, is this a problem?
I need answers....and soon......am going mad, .
Please help, I know you will if you can, many thanks,
Slime.

P.S. Will I be able to use my OEM copy of XP ???
P.P.S. Sorry if this thread is in the wrong spot guys.

Well for the components you want, try taking a look at this thread, and you MAY be able to use the OEM version of the OS if you have a CD for it, I've heard quite alot of people have managed to persuade the people on the Microsoft phone activation line to enable the activation, but this is not guarantee. If you don't have the CD
(I.E. it came pre-installed on a PC, you will almost never be able to install it on another machine)

I won't comment on your build although you can easily build a computer to play those games....... I WILL however comment on COD5. I play COD4 extensively online and at the servers I frequent, many GOOD players (I'm mediocre because I've gotten old and my reaction time has slowed as well as my vision lol) downloaded the Beta COD5 and they were very critical of the game. NONE and I mean absolutely ZERO thought it was worth the 50 dollars (US) that the game cost. I would wait on that one bro until the price dropped.

personally, I think COD5 is OK, however I don't have COD4 so I don't know how it compares.
