Default Building a new gaming PC

Hey everyone,
I'm intending on building a new gaming computer, I have a budget off around the 1k pounds mark.
I'll be buying the computer piece by piece,
I'll be building it from the ground up so I'll be needing the works; Motherboard, CPU, Graphics card, etc.

The only one item I don't need on the list is a hard drive due to I'm picking up a new 500gb one later,

The minimum specs i need are;
CPU: Dual-Core CPU (Athlon X2 / Pentium D / Core 2 Duo)
Graphics: Nvidia 7800 or ATI X1800 (SM 3.0)
RAM: 1.5GB+

Something better then the things shown there,

Any help would be much appreciated. :)!

Default Building a new gaming PC

Hi,

For your budget you could buy a good PC.

About the CPU you should go for the Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 but if you intend to oc, you should buy the E6750 (which is cheaper) and is easily upgradable. Or if you want you could buy the Core 2 Quad Q6600 and oc it which would could be done even more to 3.2Ghz+ and would run smoothly.

As for the motherboard, you should invest in an Asus, the Extreme Striker Extreme.

For the PSU you should go for an Enermax one. The Galaxy series are the one to go for. They are available in 850W and the 1000W. If you intend on having SLi in the future go for the 1000W but if you don't, the 850W would be ok. Also these PSU are very quite and efficient.

About the Ram, you should get one that has the same Mhz as the CPU has, example: the quad Q6600 has 1066FSB so you should buy ram DDR2 1066MHz, this way you would not be limited in speed. About brand, I would recommend the Corsair and the Dominator series are very good.

For the VGA, you should buy a DX10 card since this is the trend now-a-days. You should go for the BFG 8800GTX 768Mb and would have a VERY latest card or you could go for the 8800GTS 640MB, both cards have DX10. I prefer Nvidia cards rather than ATi ones.

As for the case, as usual I like the ThermalTake cases which are very good cases and are build to suite everyone needs. There is a vast range of cases form where you could choose one.

About the speakers you should buy a 5.1 surround from logitech, the X-540 are extreemly good. About the sound card you should get the Creative Fatality Pro.

About the monitor you should get a Samsung which are the best. You minimum should buy a 22" wide but a 24" wide is also good since that would be the monitors of the future.

Hope this helped. If you need further assistance do no hesitate to ask.
