Hi, I will be building my custom build PC soon and I would like to know about the static 'thing'. I have read that I would need an anti-static band but the question is that would I need to buy 2, one for each hand?? (maybe it sounds funny but I do not know!!) And would I have to touch an unpainted part of the case before I touch something?? Where should I be building the PC on a table or on the floor?? Also, if I buy cloves instead of the strap, would it be better?? Hope someone could help. 10q

No you only need one strap for your wrist, attach it to the bottom of a radiator or something and you'll be fine. But there is a cheaper way of doing it... just touch some unpainted metal that is connected to the ground. Touch it a few times, to be sure, and you'll be good to go.

So one wrist band is enough and if I decide to buy the strap, all I have to do is tie it to my wrist and then with the crocodile clip, attach it to an unpainted area of the case + the case should be lying on the floor I assume or am I wrong? EDIT: But if I buy the cloves, all I have to do is crab the things and put them in place, right? Last edited by Thunderer : 18th Jan 2008 at 03:50 AM.

Its simple. Keep the case off the floor especially if its carpet. Earth yourself as mentioned above. Dont stand in your bare feet on a carpet when you are working. Put the case on a table and get to work! My System: Krlll
