Default Buying a new computer

Hi there,
Getting very close now to finally buying a new computer (woop!), to ensure i get the best value for money and a spec that suits my needs ideally, i thought i'd just run what i'm aiming to get through you guys so you can hit me with any suggestions. the current spec i'm look at is as follows:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 Ghz 8Mb Cach, 4Gb Corsair Memory DDR 800, 500GB SATA Hard Drive, , , Colors 550Watt Silent Upgrade, 256Mb Nvidia 8600GTS graphics card DX10, QC - ASUS P5N-ESLI 1333fsb-DDR800x4 SLI motherboard (Dual graphics), 2 x 18X DVD+/-RW (Samsung), Creative Sound Blaster Live 7.1 Sound Card, Trust 2.1 SP-3200 Speaker Set, , Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate (OEM),

Firstly just a few questions about the spec. I choose a Quad processor because they seem to be the latest thing. If i am to play a lot of the game world of warcraft, is this the best processor to buy? Also, is the current graphics card i have chosen better than the radeon x1950?

Secondly just a question about the site i'm buying from.. I intend to buy from is NO LINKS.
Can you give me any advice to if this is a good site or not? I chose them because they are significantly cheaper than other sites..

Any help would be much appriciated! many thanks

The quad cores only currently run on very few games, i believe that Microsoft Flight sim is one of them, other than that 99% of games do not utilise the quad core system. This means that for the majority of games the quad core would actually run slower than a Core 2 duo, due to the slower bus speed. I believe the E6750 is around £50-£60 cheaper than the Q6600, and at the moment, will run faster. But obviously i cannt say what the situationw will bein 6-12 months time.

The memory seems a good choice, but if i was building the system i would prefer to use 2GB @ 1066Mhz, as opposed to 4GB @ 800Mhz. Most applications will never have the need to use 4GB, and will only be using 2GB most of the time. Again this will probably say you some money too. For example, you can get OCZ reaper 2GB @ 1066Mhz from ww.aria.co.uk for just £100 (i think).

With the money saved from the processor and memory i would look at improving the graphics card to the 8800 series, if possible.

I would also feel more comfortable with a higher powered power supply, at least 700W in my opinion.

Some of the more experienced people on here will no doubt be able to give you some more/better advice, but personally, that is what i would do.

thanks for your advice, and i will certainly take that into account.. Just to justify my current choice, i aim to make the comptuer as future proof as possible, thus the 4gb of ram and the quad processor. I also believe that for world of warcraft nor the bus speed or the graphics card will have any problem handeling it to a high level. With the
700 watts of power, could you give me some advice to the advantage of this. Many thanks
