![]() Budget is £500, this total comes to just over that. But can anyone tell me if this spec looks okay, everything compatible? I don't know a great deal about computer hardware, I basically just want a good gaming rig. Thanks for any help. |

I would however invest in a better more powerful psu as you are buying very expensive and powerful components. also, case fans? My System: Custom Built v1.0

| I was considering the 520W corsair PSU. Do you think it'd make much of a difference though? The case comes with two fans, "12cm front and rear fans are included to provide maximum airflow and super silent operation". |

| The graphics card is under £80 at Dabs.com, assuming you would be using a reference ATI driver. |

| That is the GT card isn't it? Not the Pro one. |

| I'm liking that spec. Not only is it well-balanced for gaming at 1280x1024/1440x900 but the individual components are good ones. Well done. Except the psu. I'd be happier considering the rest of the spec with a better (more stable) psu. Enermax do a model called 'Liberty'. The 500w is about a tenner more than the one quoted. Much more stable and efficient. CM psu's tend to run loud as well in comparision. Plus you'll be running the psu at near peak constantly with the setup you've quoted (AMD DX9 cards eat juice, especially the high end ones) meaning the psu will always be running loud. Yeah, Liberty.

| It doesn't have the "Saphire" badge but it is a DabsValue card, same Pro chipset. This sounds like a very noisy power-hungry PC! As you have 2 120mm fans already, you will almost certainly find that the CPU cooler and PSU fan are the noisiest components. I have a 120mm fan sat on top of my humble P4 2.8 upstairs. ![]() Last edited by Mike0001 : 11th Sep 2007 at 09:58 AM. |

| I've only found good reviews on the Corsair PSU, why do you think its so terrible? I think maybe I should go for something 500W+ however just to be safe. |
