i want to install windows vista ultimate and use it as i would a normal pc?
sorry i no nothing about server's

reasons why i want to

so i can mod the huge case! i was going to take out the server parts and place my pc parts inside it basically i wanted just the case but iv got all of it as i got it really cheap(£50) and i was thinking could i run it like a normal pc?
and so i can use all 40 HDD (80gb's each)

the only specs i no is 3ghz cpu
3 gb ram

Yes you can, as long as you have An sound card and graphics card installed it will work just as fine I would recommend finding out the computer Specs first to see if anything would need upgrading, I hope this helps some what regards rob.

Not sure i get the question.

You have a server and you want to rip out the insides and put vista on it, well, then it wouldn't be a server, it would be a normal PC with Vista.

So it would just act like a normal PC anyway...

sorry Hybr!d originally i was going to just rip out the inside of the server case and put my pc inside the server case.. but thinking about it more it would be easier to just use the server as all the harddrives are wired up and so on and i think the specs are better than what im running at the minite too..

mrberty thanks mate! ill wip off the side panel and check now to see about sound and graphics

ok pete bud :) and dont mention it mate as long as you had them it would be usefull to use it as a pc with vista on let me no how the search goes. :)

If so download Everest and it will tell you the exact spec of the PC

Run that Everest prog pete, and then post your info here and which OS you would like to run on it, btw did you find out about sound card and graphics ?

sorry about the late reply (connection problems) they server booted to windows vista . it had a agp graphics card / no sound card but had onboard sound and there is 6 pci slots available ( i think 6 maybe less) unfortunately the server whent off in the middle of installing programs (firefox) and wont turn back on.. smoke exiting the back of the pc case tells me why i contacted the second hand shop and there happy to replace it with another one as they have more.. so am going down next sunday so ill have another one soon.. i dont no if it be same specs but ill post back here and let you know what i end up with
