hi experts...this is my problem ..when i press the power on button it doesnt gives out any video signals but i press restart its fine...or when i press restart in XP it does the same as well after the reboot the screen stays black and no signal has given out.
its not the graphic card problem coz i just bought a new one for upgrade

my specs: Asus A8N-SLi
Geil 1 gig ram
XFX 8600GT Fatal1ty
Maxtor 160 SATA

Try another monitor?

If it works in DOS but messes around in XP it could be drivers.

ok thank you for the previous help by the way..really appreciate the effot ..but unfortunately its not the VGA's Monitor's nor the Hardrive's fault. Hence i got them all upgradeed lately..but the problem exitsted long ago already? i am so stuck with this problem right now :S :O

oh yea forgot to mentioned that too...when i press the power button the screen just stay black inn stand by mode cant even see DOS...so no video output at all until i press reset sometimes more than once to get the images on my PC after that it gets into windows fine. this info helped?

Whats your psu's wattage rating? specifically the ampage on the 12v please.

i just had a look not sure what i am looking at..but it says something like:
CPU core 1.63V
+3.3V 3.30V
+5V 5.11V
+12V 11.84V
+5V Standby 4.89V
VBAT Battery 3.07V

My psu is 500W

So does it actually power on when you get no display?

If the machine is not actually powering on until you mess with the reset button it could be dodgy case buttons.

yes it does power on just no display ...ahh ok i will go and check that button in a sec...thank you for yr help!

I think it could be a sticky reset button.

Turning on the PC with the reset button stuck in will cause it to power on with no display.

Then as you say you press the reset and it powers on properly.

Make sure the rest button is good.
