Default Carbon! I Need Your Help!

So I'm on a $500-600 budget build for my friend and I think the guide is kinda outdated (no offense lol). I'm looking for a $400-600 budget gaming pc. So any ideas? A full guide isn't needed here just maybe some links and why I should get what and why. I believe your the expert here but anyone else is welcome to help here! Thanks guys!

His guide was updated about 2 months ago, it's still very valid mate.

Apart from the fact the ATi 5xxx's and nVidia GTX 3xx's coming out in the near future, the best systems you're going to get are the ones he recommended to you on that guide. I know it looks weird with I7's and such not being on the high level gaming systems but there's a reason, they suck for gaming. Follow his advice and you'll have a speedy machine for a long time.

Well, I already tried adding everything from the midrange budget pc in my cart and it exceeded my budget price range. Most of the prices went up or the product is gone.

Code:
MIDRANGE (<1080p) - [A2, B1, C1, D1, E1]

CPU: AMD Phenom II X3 720 & Motherboard: Gigabyte 790X-UD4P ($218 with combo deal) (FS)
Video: SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 4770 ($110)
RAM: OCZ Gold 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 ($45) (FS)
PSU: Corsair 400CX ($50) (R -$10) (FS)
Optical: Sony Optiarc 24X ($24) (FS)
HDD: Western Digital 640GB ($70) (FS)
Case: COOLER MASTER Centurion 5 ($50)

TOTAL: $567 before $10 in rebates = $557

PM him and he'll update the guide. Chances are he will see this and respond later today. Check back tomorrow for advice from him.

While I'm here, switch the 4770 for a 4850, should be a bit less, ditch the optical drive if you've got an old PC you can get one from, pick up a cheap AM3 motherboard and the X3 720, motherboard is often irrelevant to speed anyway. If budget is still tight, drop 1Gb or 2Gb of RAM, probably wont shift the budget much though.

MA770-UD3 +...

Athlon II X2 240 = $135
Phenom II X2 545 = $165
Phenom II X3 720 = $195

I'll have an updated guide on my site in the next few days, don't think it's worth posting a whole new one here as it's more of a tiny revision until i5 comes out.
