| Hey I recently posted a thread about problems arising from installing software, (which is now uninstalled), and basically the problems arising from that are more or less gone/fixed. However, since then, I've noticed that there is sound that can only be best described as a clicking sound that occurrs upon start up, and just after Windows as finished loading up. I don't know where it's coming from exactly, but somewhere in the middle of the PC (I think!). I could just be paranoid about there something possibly wrong with my PC, but I just want to be sure, and so I'd like to read your opinions/thoughts as well. Is it possible that there are fragments of the software left over in my system? If it is, will this be harmful or bad as time goes on? Sorry if this question sounds a little petty, it's just the way I think of it, little has the potential of being big, so I just want to be sure. |

| If it's a definite clicking sound, this could well be the Hard Drive is on its way out.

| Could also be one of the fans, needs checking out as an overheating PC is a soon to be dead PC.

| Or it could just be a fan hitting a wire, but check the others first, as if it is just hitting a wire, it doesn't matter, atleast not for about 50 years, till it manages to cut through it.

| Your advice is normally very sound, but, I completely disagree that a fan clipping a wire is OK.

| All these responces are really worrying. This PC isn't even 3 weeks old. The sound is subtle though, and goes away in less than 5min... I really appreciate everyone's opinions... but this is just another problem on top of another. Sorry, I'm grateful for people's feedback, but if something is wrong with my PC again... Ok, so should I bring it back to the company that I got it built with, so they can take a look at it? |

| If it's new take it back as opening it up yourself will probably void your warranty.

| Yea, like Dave said, if you bought the computer as a pre-built unit, then take it back before you open it up as it will void the warrenty.

@dave: I was meaning more in comparison with the others, as, if the fan is only clipping the wire, it won't be effecting how it's turning, therefore will remain cool, and also the fins aren't sharp enough to cut through it in any short amount of time. However yes, I agree, it's not something you should just forget about. My System: First OC
