gday everyone

recently turned on my system the other day to discover it will not turn on, open it up and find a really strong burning smell coming out of the power supply.

so that means a new power supply for me however I thought I might as well just upgrade the motherboard cpu and ram while it was in peices.

so current system specs:

intel 2.8ghz processor
512mb DDR ram
radeon 9250 graphics card
80gb IDE harddrive

also bought a new case not so long ago some company called "ezicool" seems like an ok case aside from the fact that the big fan in the side sucks in bucket load of dust which gets annoying to clean out every now and again but thats just a rant.

questions I have for now, is there a modern motherboard that will run my current video card no problems or will i just have to make do with ram and hard drive space. also if possible I would prefer to keep the ide hard drive as the main hard drive but worst comes to worst I will just pull all the data I need off it.

looking at getting.

New motherboard
Dual core processor
2gb worth of ram
possibly another hard drive if the current budget allows for the moment.

also I am not much of a heavy gamer by any means but I do like a nice mid - high spec system which will run almost anything that isnt going to need massive amounts of processing.

I mostly play around with photoshop and listen to music on my computers.

anymore details that will help you guys help me let me know.

Cheers

My advice would be not to change anything but to wait a little longer and change the whole system. I am assuming your graphics card is AGP so not much point in swapping for another AGP board. I would wait and build a new system with core2duo, PCI E graphics and DDR2 memory.
