Default COMPUTER BOOT PROBLEM

hey...i built myself a computer and when i try to boot from the optical drive it does nothing....i can hear the drive spinning the disc but nothing happens....i tried putting my hard drive into andohter computer and installing windows with that and it worked...i put my hard drive back in my computer and booted from it and the same thing happened...in bios all my settings are correct i believe, and it reconizes my optical drive and hard drive...what am i doing wrong???my hard drive is set-up as SATA and optical drive as IDE

I'm confused... are you having problems booting from the optical drive or the hard drive? If you can't boot from the optical drive, then go into BIOS and make sure that the optical drives come before the hard drive in the boot sequence. If that doesn't fix it, then it's probably not a bootable disk. If you can't boot from the hard drive, then it could be a lot of problems, so you'd need to post more specific details about the problem.

Default COMPUTER BOOT PROBLEM

the optical drive does come befor the HD in bios....i can not boot from either of the drives....the cd is a bottable drive becasue it is windows xp, and my computer wont boot from HD as well...i was wondering if it was a motherboard problem???

i dont get a error message....the screen just stays black after it passes bios....i can hear the optical drive spinning up but nothing happens
