So my brother was on his computer which is a HP Media Center m7060n Desktop PC and he was on last night browsing the internet and he said that it just turned of out of no where. And then a blue led on the power switch started flashing. So he tried to boot it back up but nothing. The computer is totally dead no sound, no fan, nothing. I thought that maybe it was the PSU again because i replaced it about a month ago with a 400W (factory is a 300W) and so i exchanged it and hooked everything up and still nothing. When i flip the power switch on the back of the PSU there is a amber light on the power switch that blinks once and then back to nothing. I narrowed it down to either the motherboard or the power switch but i dont think that would be it because there is a light and it would be hard for that to fail. And i have no idea how to test it and change the parts because the other computer that i have that parts wont match up. So i was thinking to just buy a new motherboard and see if that solves it because i dont know what else it could be. The factory MB is pretty $ so i wanted to find out if i can get a better one that would mate up to the current setup. And i hate his comp because it only has PCI slots and cant upgrade the video card to a PCI-E. He already bought a PCI card but it is garbage.I just need to find one that will match up. But my main concern is it worth it or just buy or build a new comp. Here are the specs......

It's hardly worth the replacement of the motherboard man, it's old and rusty. It'd probably be cheaper to get a brand new motherboard and a decent dual core processor on the 775 socket and just swap over the existing parts..

Probably need to reinstall your OS man. Motherboard CD installs into Windows, if you can't get to windows then you can't install it.

ok new prob so i put it together and spending some time on the wiring because i wouldnt figure out the wiring from the chassis to the mobo. so now i just installed XP Pro 64-bit and first thing i did was tried to use the software from the graphic card(will update parts later) and it said that the hard drive is FULL! i used my old HD which is 233GB and its full. so it still has all my files on there just have to dig for them. but i think that the original 32 bit is still on there. because there are some files named system 32. so what are my options? can i just delete them or should i just compress my files and burn them to a dvd a re format the HD which i think would be the easiest. also on boot up the screen pops up and asks which to load>>> XP PRO, XP Media Center(origional), Windows recovery.

You dual-booted it instead of letting Windows format the partition. Backup what you want and format the drive then try again.
