That should be pretty damn fast..

What are you trying to run? If it's Crysis at 1600x1200 then there's no surprise..

EDIT: You need more than 2Gb RAM to run a 64bit OS properly.

That seems to cause a bluescreen on XP SP1 and Vanilla. Try using windows update.

Have you installed the drivers for your printer?

Here is a link for HP's drivers. I noticed that they don't have any specifically for XP 64, but it may be worth a shot. If the error happens again, it would help a lot if you could post the exact error message.

For making XP go faster, here is what I would do:

Get a couple more sticks of RAM (link to Crucial's memory advisor), since going over 4GB is one of the wonderful things about 64-bit windows.

Go to the MSConfig startup tab and disable all the startup programs you don't need.

As with any new installation of Windows, make sure you have a firewall and antivirus installed. (I recommend ZoneAlarm and AVG, but there are many other good free utilities available, such as Avast! and Kaspersky.)

Yeah, XP-64 was horribly unsupported. You're far better off with Vista or 7. A 32 or 64bit version will be fine for you. Since you only have 2gb RAM, I'd say go for 32 bit. 7 64 bit has a 2Gb minimum requirement
