Default Computer Freezes- help.

Hey, recently my desktop PC freezes as soon as I load it up.
I turn it on, choose the user and when I get to the main part with the icons..etc. It just freezes. I have Windows XP- and I'm not sure why this is beginning to happen now.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, replies in easy to understand language (I'm not with these technical terms) will be more appreciated.

Thanks.

Yeah, I can.
Everything is just really slow on the normal mode, and ends up ''Not Responding''.

It sounds like something may be running at start up, that's hogging your CPU resources.

Go to Start/Run, type in msconfig and hit Enter

On the Start Up Tab click on "Disable All" and "Apply" then reboot normally.

If things are working normally again, go back to msconfig and add one item then reboot ..... continue doing this until you identify the culprit. Try to add back any Anti-Virus software first.
