Default Computer hardware tests

Hi, does anyone know of a good test for computers to find out what is wrong with them. i am an IT technician and it can take time to identify a problem and have seen some software on the web that can do this but don't know which would be good or not. There is one called Micro2000, has anyone used it.

Thanks

A good test is doing a OS install.

Yes, that can be good to tell you if there is a problem. I'd like to identify exactly what the problem is and replacing the part. For me an OS install doesn't tell you if you have a serious or even an intermittant problem and where that problem lies. Normally it will say hard disk failure, but for anything else you have to work it out yourself.

Thanks

More often then not you'll get a bsod with technical information so an OS install will let you know where the problem lies.

It's not as if hardware failure all means one thing. With PSU, you'll often get lights but no power-up, even with shorted pins, with GPU you'll get full power up with no display..the only real troublemaker is the motherboard.
