My computer keeps shutting down itself down completely and refuses to turn on for a few minutes after. The shut down isn't a slow shut down it's instant. It only happens when I play games like Supreme Commander that are very demanding on it.

I bought the computer from a shop and it's still within the warranty, but they are closing shop for Christmas Holiday and won't be open till after. I'm just wondering if there is a simple solution that I can do without fiddling too much with the inside, since it's still in the warranty I'ld rather not poke about inside it till after the warranty runs out.

Had a similar problem in the past, It was to do with the Operating System but this time I'm pretty sure it's Hardware although I'm not 100%. That time I was doing something demanding again and it shut down but that time shut down properly as if someone went to Start > Turn off computer > shutdown and not instantly.

If there is no simple solutions then can I'ld still like some theories what it could be for my own knowledge for another time when it's not within the warranty.

Thanks

It sounds like overheating or possibly a memory issue.

You could try checking the CPU temp, after this happens.

Look in BIOS for a temp monitor or grab a copy of Speedfan (freeware)

If it's still in warranty, be patient and let them sort it FOC
