| Hello, I recently assembled this system (about two weeks ago). Specs: Asus P5Q Turbo Mobo Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83 ghz processor Asus EN9800GT 1Gb video card 2x 2Gb Gskill DDR2-1066 memory Western Digital 320 Gb Sata HDD PSU: Corsair 650Watt Operating System: Windows 7 RC I originally assembled this computer and installed Windows XP 64, SP2. I ran that problem free for about a week before downloading and doing a clean install of Windows 7 RC. I ran Windows 7 problem free for about a week as well. I hadn't noticed any performance issues, and no hardware conflicts. About two nights ago, I woke up to find my computer running windows repair. I let that run and restarted my computer. It seemed like everything was running fine until about half an hour later as I was browsing the internet my computer restarted on me. It asked me if I wanted to run safe mode or normal mode due to an improper shutdown, and I did normal mode. Everything seemed fine and I finished what I was doing and turned the computer off for the day. The next day the same thing occured, but I decided to reboot in safe mode and uninstall the windows updates from the previous night. This time I left my computer on and noticed that the frequency of forced restarts was increasing until it was about every thirty seconds. It would also do a hard shut down and fully power off by itself and then power on immediately by itself without me touching any of the power buttons. I turned off my computer and consulted the Windows 7 forum to see if maybe the OS was causing my problems, but after doing some troubleshooting there (running the backup OS the mobo comes with, testing the memory sticks one at a time, checking the CPU temp and reinstalling new thermal compound {temp idles around 85 degrees C, and new thermal compound is Arctic 5}) I realized that the restarts occur equally when I'm in Windows, Bios, or the mobo OS. Way too long story short, my computer restarts/shuts off-then-on constantly, with an increased frequency the longer I try to leave the computer on. I checked the PSU on an older system and it worked just fine, and I had two weeks of trouble free operation (one with each OS) before this started. Any Ideas? Thanks in Advance Nate |

| Cut the PC down to a bare minimum.

Mobo CPU RAM 1 stick PSU (GPU if your mobo doesn't have any onboard) And boot up, see if it still does it, try the other stick of RAM instead, etc. Also have you changed any BIOS settings at all? Remove the CMOS battery wait 10 secs and then replace it. If all that fails, or it's not apparent that anything else is causing itfrom the strip down, then you may have recieved a dodgy mobo. EDIT: 85 C?!?! That's the problem I would have thought. My Q6600 is OC'd beyond your clock speed, and it runs on full load at 56 C Send back the CPU, get a replacement. My System: FordyPC
