| For a few weeks now I have this annoying problem: When I turn my computer on it sounds like its working, but the monitor stays in sleep mode, and the mouse and keyboard don't seem to work. When it started I just unplugged everything and powered on, and it seemed to work, but lately even that's not helping. When I power on, sometimes it sounds like its starting as normal, and sometimes it starts beeping. I figured that the problem is probably either the RAM or the mother board, but I don't really know What do you think? |

| No display faults are normally graphics card or CPU. Dead motherboards normally result in no life at all. I'd take the side off and make sure the CPU fan is working and is not clogged with dust and debris. If you have continued to use the machine since this first started there is a high chance you have cooked the CPU.

| OK I took a look inside, and the CPU fan is working Is there anything I can do to try to fix it? |

| Is it spotlessly clean, small amounts of dust make all the difference.

| Most common problem I've found when it keeps beeping is bad memory so try swapping the memory. Reseat all cards and cables. As to the comment above that no display is a video card problem I've found that's always true. Try pulling out the memory and then reboot, you'll see that you have no display. |

| It really was the memory, I took it out, put it in a different slot and it seemed to do the trick for a couple of moments. but then my pc just froze, and went back to the old problem. Now the monitor, mouse and keyboard don't work, and when I power on the computer beeps every minute 1 long beep, and then 2 short beeps. |

| Yup .... if it's definitely 1 long beep, and then 2 short beeps, then the Graphics Card is dead.

| When I boot up there's no desplay at all, and the monitor stays in sleep mode. The beeps are 1 long beep and 2 short, which is according to your link is a Bad video adapter problem. But my computer doesn't have a seperate video adapter, its part of the motherbord, what can I do? |

| can i just get a new graphics card even though the old one is part of the motherboard? |

| That could be a possibility, but I wouldn't spend too much on one, just in case the motherboard itself is faulty.

It could be worth a try .... see if you can get a cheap one from a local store, who will change it, if it doesn't resolve the issue. My System: Home Build

| Not sure but can you go into setup and disable your onboard video? I know some features can be disabled in setup. If not then i guess it's time to replace the motherboard. |

| Yes you can use a graphics card. even if your onboard is busted. personally i'd go with something from nvidia. geforce 7s are pretty decent and things like the 7300 are dirt cheap nowadays. |
