That could be a possibility, but I wouldn't spend too much on one, just in case the motherboard itself is faulty.
It could be worth a try .... see if you can get a cheap one from a local store, who will change it, if it doesn't resolve the issue.

Not sure but can you go into setup and disable your onboard video? I know some features can be disabled in setup. If not then i guess it's time to replace the motherboard.

Yes you can use a graphics card. even if your onboard is busted. personally i'd go with something from nvidia. geforce 7s are pretty decent and things like the 7300 are dirt cheap nowadays.

Just grab a cheap PCI card for $20 off eBay, plug it in, see if it works. You'll know for sure then.
