Hey,
I had a pretty sweet set up for a computer a little while ago and it all ended when my motherboard fried itself. I found a replacement motherboard with a Socket 939 processor port. My question, or questions I should say is, Using http://www.memoryexpress.com can you tell me what the best video card for 400 or under that would work in an AMD machine is? Part two, If I were to upgrade my motherboard/processor and video card for 1000 or under, can you give me a good recommendation using the same website? (http://www.memoryexpress.com) I don't know how vague or general I've made the information I put in this post so if you need more info to help me out, please ask. : ) |

Best card would probably be this one however I don't recommend that card for a build of $1000, try taking a look through this sticky, that should tell you all you need to know about which stuff to get.

Cool, thanks.
Just out of curiousity, can you tell me why you wouldn't use that card for a $1000 build? Is it just a matter of being lower end and it would be better to pick up a better processor instead or is it because it would take up half of the budget? |

Because you can get a card that is almost as good for around $100 I think, and that money would be better spent going towards a better motherboard/CPU combination. However this is assuming you are going for a full tower, if you are only wanting a gfx card, motherboard and CPU, that is a fine budget for a gfx card.

Alright, I posted a thread a little while ago asking for help in choosing a new video card from http://www.memoryexpress.com
On a recommendation, I settled on this one right here http://www.memoryexpress.com/Product...22226(ME).aspx Of course, I was lacking foresight and didn't realize that I didn't have a compatible power supply. I did some more research and heard that this was a decent power supply to go with. http://www.memoryexpress.com/Product...18779(ME).aspx I've come to the conclusion that if I am going through the trouble of getting this new video card and power supply, I would replace the shoddy motherboard that I have. (My motherboard died on me about 6 months ago so I picked up a decent looking Socket 939 board to replace the previous 939 board I had.) I saw this one and recognized this motherboard's chipset is supposedly optimized to work with the video card I purchased. This is the motherboard in question here. http://www.memoryexpress.com/Product...19656(ME).aspx So, of course, I'll have to pick up a compatible processor. I suppose my question to anybody with enough free time to read the post this far in is do these seem like the best components to use to upgrade my machine? If I am picking up that new motherboard, I'll of course need a new processor, any thoughts as to which one would work best? I'm pretty big into games but I don't exactly have four grand in my back pocket so a mid to high level machine is preferable. If you need anymore information about my machine, just ask. Thanks. |

I wouldn't recommend that motherboard, for the primary reason, it's for AMD CPU's, and Intel CPU's are better value, and perform better. Go for a P45 chipset motherboard and an E8500/E8400 CPU.
