Default Connecting PC to TV

Hi, I have a Samsung 56 inch DLP HDTV, and a computer I'd like to hook up to it. I just need some advise on how.

About 2 months ago I went to bestbuy asking how I could hook up my toshiba Laptop to the TV. They encouraged me to buy an S-video cable saying that would get the job done. It didn't. The picture quality was awful and distorted.

My friend has a smaller HDTV, and has his computer hooked up through "VGA". So, I looked in my TV's manual and found that I can use "PC-IN" with a 15 Pen D-sub cable. A quick google search brought me to this cable.

That cable says VGA, so I'm assuming that this will work with my TV and computer? Will I be able to hook my current PC with a Radeon 9550, as well as my future PC sporting a GeForce 8800GT? How will the quality be? Will I be able to watch movies / play games on it? My buddys TV looks crystal clear with perfect quality.

Thanks for the help.

well because its a vga cable the picture quality will be perfect as all the pixels on your hdtv will be used. if you want to connect it to your 8800gt you will need to use the dvi-vga connector which is included with the 8800gt.
