Hey,
I just upgraded my fan for my CPU and I can no longer boot up. When I press the power button the fans move for a split second and then stop. I have unmounted and remounted the fan with new thermal paste. I tried complete barebones as well - PSU, motherboard, CPU, 1 memory stick. One thing I noticed is that if the 8pin eps12v power cord is unplugged then when you start it the fan runs (but obviously nothing else.) The motherboard light is on too. I have tried another PSU and memory as well. All of these parts worked with the old fan but even putting the old fan back on now doesn't work. Any help would be appreciated! thanks |

Sometimes the CPU fan is turned off by the BIOS if the temperature is low enough. Are you getting a display?

Although it would be strange why it would die now those are symptoms of text book dead PSU.
