Default CPU or Motherboard

Hi, I will try to give all relevant info. Computer powers up but no POST or image onscreen. The memory is corsair and has lights to indicate usage (I know flash) but no lights work. Memory tried in another PC ok.

I presume it is a fault with either the MB or CPU

MB ASUS A8N SLI
CPU 3800 Dual Core

any help would be appreciated.

What happened prior to this?

9 times out of 10 it is a PSU fault, so replace that, regardless of if you get power or not as PSUs frequently work partly.

Failing that try the motherboard as these sometimes go.

Haven't seen a faulty CPU in like 10 years and I work in the trade.

I second Dave, get a PSU out of another machine and try that, if there isn't another one to try, you should buy one, something like a Corsair 450W will do well, it doesn't cost too much, but even if that isn't what's wrong, it's a very good investment.
