Would probably be best just to make 3 partitions to start with.

As for the fans, they both look like they are probably as good as each other.

Installing Vista I think, if you just follow the instructions that come up when you put the disk in, it should be fine.

Ok, great cheers thingie.

I don't need 600GB to run Vista to start off with anyway, so i was slowly coming round to that way of thinking.

Argh, I had a nasty feeling you might say that..

Now all its down to is one has slightly more airflow, against the other which looks nicer..

From my choice of case you won't be able to see inside, so logic would dictate me for the one that has the slightly better figures..

..its also cheaper..

Yeah ok I'll go for the Akasa.

Thanks for your help.

It's possible to use EASUS partition manager to do this - it's free and what I use.

I think we will just have to agree to disagree on cooling - but if you are going to make a nice new build, then I don't see the point in putting it in an old case when you could have a nice shiny new one with better airflow. Also make sure the form factor of the Dell will fit the motherboard you buy.

If you got another case you would also be able to have two computers and then could use the old one just as a Windows 7 beta machine. Or as a server to backup all the data from all the compuetrs in your house onto.

I really don't know what you're on about.

this is a completely new build, check the spec list: includes new case and new mobo.

I'm fine for backup thats partly what the secondary hard drive is for (that I am buying, by the way, another thing you seemed to think was coming out of the Dell)

I will dual boot Win7, backup on another hard drive.

My Dell, I will then clean up, wipe all data, and sell.

Can you give a link to EASUS partition manager? I wouldn't mind having a look into that, i need something to hopefully merge partitions without loosing data.

Here

Have it myself, but don't find it the bestest stuff in the world.. I think also for merging you have to pay the licence.. not sure though, see what you make of it.

Have a look at GParted.

I always use it and it rarely fails.
