long story short i was under the assumption my harddrive was on it way out, but due to being positively distracted by my xbox 360 i never got round to buying a new sata drive.

well now my base wont even turn on

no beeps no display, not even any power going to ethernet cable (not showing on router)

i can only assume this is the MB, im in two minds to pull this thing apart and sell in bits to buy a new laptop (this one has a huge crack down the screen lol)

but before i come to any ideas i want to conclude its broken and which part....

lights turn on, on the front base panel however hence why im torn to a final decision lol

sorry about any spelling mistakes, hate laptop keyboards

Sounds like a knackered power supply.

my bad for posting wrong section dave mate:)

if you dont mind me asking, what suggest the power supply? its just incase i have missed something out i can check again

i decided against a dodgey power supply before posting here due to the fact that the lights turned on on the front of the base unit and the fact the motherboard ddint beep (of course it wouldnt beep without power lol)

cheers dave!

Dead power supplys commonly give enough output to get some LEDs lit up. A non/partly powering on PC is almost always a dead power supply, the LEDs and you saying the hard drives going funny before (probably due to power loss/surge) make it the likely suspect. They are the most unreliable PC part, motherboards being one of the better ones and CPUs almost bulletproof.

im past the point of caring with every breaking lately so it is basically hands all in ripping cables out lol

i lie, but im not hesitating to try different solutions lol

CPU fan runs but remains at an idle speed
