A friends aunt (72) recently tried to get high speed internet. She is using an old computer that has Win98 on it and the cable company said they couldn't connect DSL to that, I don't know any specs on the computer but she said the aunt's computer was probably from 98 lol. I found a used computer that I thought would work for her for $169 (link below). All the old lady will do is email and maybe post something on the church bulletin board. When i called the place, the guy said he even had some similar machines for around 100. AM I wrong in suggesting this cheap option? I really think this is all she needs.

It's the Compaq on the lower left.

I live in the US and we don't have a program like that, that I am aware of. I think it is way cool though that ya'll do that. Here, we have trillions to waste in Iraq but nothing for our old folks. LOL i better stop there before I get on my political soapbox.

Thanks for the info though. I've always wanted to go to your Country, lol now maybe I should look into retiring there.

Dave: thanks for the confirmation.

That's a worse setup than in Bubba's original post - plus it costs more.

Yeah a nice change from the Antarctic eh? Maybe a bit of culture and climate shock though...
