Default Dell Inspiron 3800 > Not turning on

Hi.

My ancient laptop (Dell Inspiron 3800) :o Won't turn on, everytime I plug the external power supply in to it, the green LED goes out and nothing happens.

Ie. The laptop is dead.

Is there any cheap solutions to this?

Or is it new laptop time?

Thanks :)

Does it work running just off the battery?

It may be a case of a dodgy power supply but these can be expensive. i.e: £100+

Depends how old the laptop is but it may be more economical to replace the whole thing.

Dave.

No the battery had it a long time ago like most laptops :o

I thought that it would be best bet to replace the entire thing tbh as it is a 9 year old laptop after all!!

I would definitely replace it.

Even if it is fixable you are looking at maybe £100 on parts plus labour, which can be £50+ per hour.

The reset of the laptop will still not have any warranty so as its 9 years old you could do all this work then find something else breaks 3 months down the line.

With laptops to be had for £350+ online its a total no brain-er.

Good luck.

Dave.
