Your monitor will be compatible with whatever computer you get as a replacement (we could invent exceptions but it's still essentially true). Definitely before you buy anything we can check the model and say it's true but for now you can assume it is.

I agree you need a computer that will just plain work for you and this one won't. A computer repair shop will take £100 from you and you'll have no reason to trust that they did anything useful in return.

In your place I'd buy a fresh computer and add £100 for a 3-year on-site warranty with a 24-hour response time on it, and call out a technician every time you need to. That will definitely keep you running and I'm not sure what else would.

As far as Mesh is concerned, once a company bankrupts and keeps the entire customer account to pay its debts, without supplying anything for what they paid, and then re-opens within a month and just carries on trading with a slightly changed company name - I'd rather eat worms than do business with them.

I'd have thought you could get a replacement computer without a monitor with that warranty and easily have change from £400, since you don't sound as though you need a top of the line model. Find a company that's not going to go out of business. You mentioned Dell - I'd buy a Dell for myself in those circumstances quite happily. I've helped get friends started on their first computer and suggested Dell to them.

Af for selling your old one, do you know anyone who's sold stuff on eBay who could put it up for auction for you? You'll only get maybe 20% of what it cost you however you sell it.

Kanoaka you can't be serious. That's an overpriced computer if I ever saw one. For $700 you can get a modern Core 2 desktop.

Not that I've ever seen but I speak from a different standpoint to some of the others. I make the maximum possible resolution and the most colours and the right refresh rate for the monitor (it's not the same on flat screens to what it was on old fat heavy CRTs) and so long as the video card driver is current I've never seen that slow the computer in the slightest. The gamers would say that the resolution matters a lot because they're fighting to get more frames per second for graphic realism.

Ken 979 hi m8
ok had a quick chat with him and he said he`ll get back to me later but it wont be till monday im afraid, but basically he stated that you should have refused the first repair and demanded your money back,
however as you have had it repaired twice and there is still a inherent fault with your pc i.e. crashing
then under the sale of goods act 1979 the item is not clearly "fit for purpose" and you can demand a refund,BUT as it 6mths old you will not a full refund only a partial refund as it has been used by you for awhile and is not"NEW"
He said your first port of call should be
dave@meshcomputers.com
he will need to know your order number, details of problem(when it first went wrong, how many times, etc) and the attempts at repairing said problem with dates etc and include at the finish of e-mail you require a response from mesh within 10 days if not you will seek legal advise and how dissatisfied you are with them and that now you require a refund
If you get no response from them e-mail them with the original letter and add that you have sought legal advise and you require a refund under the following
THE SALE OF GOODS ACT 1979
SUPPLY OF GOODS ACT 1982
SALE AND SUPPLY OF GOODS ACT 1994
CUSTOMER REGULATIONS ACT 2002
hope some of this helps m8
good luck

Im not sure m8, but i think u may get half of what you paid, plus any cost you paid for repair but thats only a guess from me m8, and you may end up with no reply from mesh at all and then the only recourse will be court action, that is if you want to go down that road, or not and do the best you can out of a bad pc job.
