| been using the cpu for 8 months, i have winxp-sp2 Help! i did have firefox installed but had to take it out because i had some trojans and spyware and when i did a printout it said from firefox default so i panicked and took it out, it kept shutting down on me and I did not install. So I really went in to it blind I felt. Also now i have the two spyware programs running Avg and Norton I had Spybot prior to Norton and I already feel I have made a mistake taking that out(they both ran together, but I understand spybot is not the same thing)I know its not a good idea but don't know which one to uninstall because i hear avg is the best even though you pay for Norton and its good too but a memory hog . I must be able to disable the email scanner on one of them if that is the only problem i have heard about. And that would be Norton. I guess. Norton found 2 trojans that avg missed for the record. Please advise before I mess with more options I shouldn't touch. I don't know how this message board works and posted earlier but this says i didn't. |

| Lets go step by step.(1)First of all, firefox is much safer as compared to Internet Explorer.(2)Running 2 Antiviruses at the same time is not a good Idea(3)Norton is definitely a memory hog(4)Norton has a little better virus index than othersFirst of all, go to Windows Update Websitehttp://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/Install all the updatesUpdate norton's virus index through live update featureScan your comp once fullyUninstall it, use only avg afterwardsAlso download Ad-ware Personal Version from http://www.lavasoft.com and use it for spyware scanning |
