heya guys, iv just redone the 3dmark 06, originally i got just above 9000. which is on the 3dmark 06 graph in this area of the forum.

but this time round when i re did it. i only got 8973. i was just wondering.
why the big drop in score??
iv noticed im not getting that greater fps anymore than i did when i first built the computer.

could anything be hindering my fps?

thnx alot

The more software you install the more processes that are going to be running while you play games, it is only a drop of about 300, I would be more worried if it was in the 1000's range
The drop in fps is probably caused by your processor having to do more work then it used to by having more processes running in the background

thnx for the reply social.
iv downloaded search and destroy. and all its picked up is tracking cookies. so no actual malicious software.
i have been noticing even when not playing a game my comp sometimes slows down more than usual.
i close down processes when i turn on my comp.
down to about 16 processes.

svchost takes up most of the processes. and i arnt actually sure what it is?

Run CCleaner and advanced window care from the download section, that should speed it up a bit:)

Necromancier before I run 3DMark06 or any benchmark i got to Start/Run type msconfig go to Startup and Disable All then Reboot.
This will shut off programs that may reduce your score. You can turn all the programs on again by repeating the process.

heya guys thnx for the replys.
just ran ccleaner and advanced windows optimisation.
before i ran it i tried to move a 500mb file from the c: drive to the d: drive and it took 3 minutes.
tried it again after the cleaners did their stuff, and it only took 5 seconds.
seemed to have worked.
also had a play with some video editing software and some photo editing at the same time and it seems to run faster now.
