Default Gaming computer build

I'm going to buy a new computer for gaming. Here's the list:

1 4405 Seagate Barracuda ES 500GB, 7200rpm, 16M 157.90e
1 10020 Asus P5K3 Deluxe/WiFi-AP Intel P35 motherboard 221.90e
2 15864 Kingston 1024MB (1GB) 1066MHz DDR3-memory 373.80e x2
1 16208 Club 3D 8600GT 512MB GDDR2 PCI-E DUAL-DV 128.90e
1 16349 Antec Sonata II - , 450W ATX12 109.90e
1 24207 Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 -processor, 189.90e

My questions are:

Does they work together?
Should I wait for the SP1 to vista or stay to xp?
Is it possible to get with an lower price?

BIn the Seagate and get a Samsung T166 500gb. Faster than a raptor at loading games. Fact.

Bin the graphics card, it's lousy. Doesn't even match it's predecessor (7600GT) in DX9 gaming. 320mb GTS would be my choice, especially considering the cpu.

One of the best mobo's on the market there, so well spec'd. But as the mobo can accept either DDR2 or DDR3 I'd forget about the DDR3 you've quoted considering it's latencies (yes, core2's aren't really fussed about latencies but still). You'll save money going for some PC8500 DDR2 ram. Quite frankly thats a silly amount of money to spend for ram.

I'd be looking at a 500w psu, especially if you take my advice above regarding the graphics card.

They're beta testing SP1 for Vista as we speak, but no timescale on this I'm afraid.

And yes, its definately possible to get those items cheaper. I've seen an E6850 cheaper than the E6750 you've quoted.

Stick with XP, unless ofcourse you are wanting to play the very latest DX10 games.

Yup, much more balanced.

You'll only require the 640mb version of the GTS if gaming at 1680x1050 though. If you are, good choice.

Kingston Hyper X is good ram, but Corsair's XMS2 CL5 is as good if not better and should be quite a bit cheaper.
