im building a new rig and im a bit confused but here is my idea so far also the rig will be built for christmas;
CPU=Intel E6850
MOBO=needs to definetly be a 1333mhz fsb, vista ready 64bit, SLI with the 2 slots both running at x16, Ram 667/800mhz 4Gb.
GPU=I was thinking along 8800 ultra but since im getting it in Dec i'll see which is bang for buck.
PSU=Depens on my GPU im not really sure should i get a 600w or get a 1000w for the SLI capability in the future.
RAM=I'm going to be running Windows Vista 64bit and with the aero interface it requires 1Gb and since i'll be gaming i think it may take about 2Gb to keep it happy at a preferable speed of 667mhz+
MONITOR=Currently i have a Xerox 17inch glass monitor looks decent but i was hopping to get a widescreen one for gaming so refresh rates like 5ms or lower and contrast ratio of 800:1 and a 20" inch plus.
This is a lot i'm asking for but could someone help this isn't until christmas and i might have to keep the monitor i'v got also it's for gaming.thnx:D

what are components i should get suited for a gaming rig i came across:
MOBO=ASUS P5N-E SLI650i
GPU=8800 GTX / 8900GTX (when it comes out)
Ram=Corsair 2x1Gb XMS2
PSU=i think i want a 600w+ modular psu but im not entirely sure.
My budget is £700/£800 all i need is help tellin me weather it's vista 64bit, Good For Gaming, tell me weather it will all work together and (i'm the greatest no?) what psu i should get.thnx

There is no point pricing a computer and picking components almost 5 months before you are going to buy them.Things change far too fast at the high end for that.
No offense but this just seems like the musings of someone dreaming about their new PC.
I know its exciting but just relax.lol

I think you will struggle to build that system with £700/£800.

I have recently priced my new one up and its come to £1100, althought that does include a £250 screen. Having said that i have only manged to include an Intel E6750 chip and a 8800GTS card.
