| Building a new computer from a mix of new and old bits... The first time it was powered up the display output was a little garbled - white lines and dots everywhere. I managed to read the the 'edit setup' bit though. Ran the CMOS settings and again, all the wording was garbled. I scrolled through the options, which I could not read. These then set themselves straight when I happened to highlight one (unrelated) option. I did not set the CPU to overclock at any point and the case is well ventilated. After this I had no problems installing Xp x64. Everything was running fine. Then this morning I added an IDE drive and the bios loaded in a garbled manner again. It tried to restart once it got to the windows loading screen. I rebooted after removing the drive (in case of conflicts etc) but now it will not even boot at all. I've tried removing and resetting the memory, taking the power plugs out and reinserting, removing all hard disks and CD drives. I've tried clearing the CMOS with the CMOS jumper but all to no avail. Any ideas what's wrong? Here's a list of everything in the case. Biostar gf7050v-m7 mobo Samsung 500Gb sata hdd Intel quad q6600 2 x team elite ddr2 2Gb ram 650W PSU (sumvision powerx) 2 x IDE 40Gb hdds LG IDE DVD-RW LG IDE CD-RW floppy PCI Sound Blaster SB0100 PCI 3 port sata and IDE card 14" TFT philips s4 monitor (working perfectly with other machines) Many thanks for any help!!! |
