Hello!

I'm buying my first laptop soon, and these are the ones I think that I like.

This is the Dell one, but a lot of people have told me that they break down alot and their customer service isn't very good....

This is a ACER one, it's kinda a lower spec than the Dell but people have told me that they are really good computers...

I'll be using it for surfing the internet, downloading songs, iTunes, Word, Excel, and maybe The Sims ( :) ) or Zoo Tycoon or something like that, but other than that nothing massive.

I am so confused about it all, I really really am!

If you don't think either of those computers, could you recommend one for me?

Thank you, everyone on here seems so friendly!

The spec doesn't differ that much, nothing really wrong with Dells either
I would go with the Dell myself

As much as I hate Dell, I'd say that the Dell system is better. The Acer has a gig of RAM that wont ever be used, smaller hard drive and for £11 you might as well get a bigger hard drive and use all the RAM in the machine.

You know the Acer comes with Vista Home BASIC too. Which is a complete rip off. Dell all the way on this one!

Go for the Dell m8, i know people knock em but have got m8s with Dell laptops and theyve had no probs with them (even when bought from pc world)
as razor said its got a better o/s. a bigger hard drive and for £11 difference its dell on this one m8
P.S.
If you do get it from pc world make sure its a new one m8
and not a returned/referbished one as they are known to try and pass some of these off as new

Both are good computers, my wife has a dell laptop and I have a Acer that I bought while I was stationed in Maryland. We have never had any problems with either of them, but I would probably go with the Dell on this one.

Yep .... if you can stretch your budget another £49 .... have a look at this HP model.

The build quality is superior to both Dell and Acer.

Dont get me started on Dell, but I have to say their afters sales and technical support is atrocious .... god forbid if you ever need either .... Indian Call Centre, which is a complete joke.
