Urgh, £500??

Anyway, might be doable. Photoshop needs a good cpu, Crysis needs a half-decent gpu but it's dependent on screen resolution.

So, what screen resolution? Do you already have a screen?

Do you need os, keyboard, mouse, speakers?

If you need the os, what os are you wanting (XP, Vista?)

you could build a nice decent rig for 500 as im a BIG fan of AMD i would recommend am2 platform motherboard and obviously the am2 processor.. shop around and you can get a decent am2 motherboard and a am2 - 3.20 ghz dual core processor for round about 100 that leaves you 400 for everything els.. im not sure if i'm allowed to post website addresses here ?

Default Good Cheap Crysis PC?

If you know how to build a PC, get wise & buy components etc. from the net, from OEM's and wholesalers etc.

Building a PC is simple and for your budget you should be able to create a right good one.

I reckon for that, if you know where to look & if you know what you're doing you could get a great system.

Motherboards supporting latest procc. and up to and above 8GB DDR2 £60-80
Intel's new quad core CPU, clock between 2-3Ghz p/c say £180-250
Memory's dirt cheap... 4GB for £25 or less I've seen. More than enough!
High perf. Graphics card for £60-80 I've seen models with 512mb independent mem. and a lot of frills for that.
Tower unit, dirt cheap, power supply again they're not going for much, if you want cooling gear, again cheap. Disc drives, hard disks - buttons!

I could go on... there's a few great build your own PC books going around just now, probably a worthwhile investment.

I'd do some research, make sure you get the most for your money.

To max out Crysis at say 1680x1050 you probably need a top end quad and a couple of 8800 ultras.

£500 aint going to cut it.

Your probably going to have to settle with a PC that is going to play crysis at medium settings. Give us some ideas of what you are thinking of.
Intel versus AMD
ATI versus Nvidia
things like that.
