you have to use the internet to figure it out no matter what. your computer won't tell you what you can put into it or not. you can either look in your hardware manager for the model motherboard you have, or you can do a google search for your exact model's specs. then find the motherboard model, and what it can hold. then upgrade.

just about the best we can do to help unless you tell us the model and we find it for you.

hope i've shed some light on your hardware search.

Ya we kinda need to know the model of your dell to help at all. But all you need to do is go to dell.com, then go to there support page and go to there manual page, then type in your dell, and from there you can look at different manuals which will tell you what you have.

ya i did search and found it lol. thnx. i didnt realize little things like power supply is only 250 watt the one i wish to build is like 800 lol that and i hate that it takes the expensive ram which made me not want to upgrade it. just the price to go to a gig of that expensive stuff would b like 1/3 the cost of what i want to build and its a nice build to.

as a previous dell owner, i'd like to give you some advice. and i'm allowed to say this because i've dealt with my dell for 8 years.

ditch
that
piece
of
shiz.

buy a new one. right now. i built a very nice rig for roughly 600 bucks. i'd strongly suggest you do the same. refer to Carbon's sticky about the best parts out there and see what you can put together, and ask us for help on the rest if you don't know an awful lot.

Yes. It is extremely unlikely you'll be able to "upgrade" anything on it. The 250W PSU is your first sign.

At one time, Dell were building PCs with reversed polarity on the motherboard, so replacing the PSU fried everything! Check you don't have one of those! Otherwise, upgrade it.

Your Dell should work with bog-standard replacement RAM and you may be able to upgrade the processor with one of the same family.
