Hi All,

Sorry if i have posted this in the wrong place but as my query is regarding most of the pc components i thought this would be the best place.

I've got a ThermalTake Swing Tower (MID - i think).

Planning on getting a MSI P6N Diamond - as i've had nothing but good reviews.
Memory is here ready along with a ATA HDD, so i need your advice on the following bits and anything else i may of missed off.

PSU
CPU
Graphics Card
SATA HDD x2
DVD-RW x2 (Black)
CD-RW (Black)

All help on this would be great. I will hardly ever use the pc for gaming as my primary need is for multiple applications use and downloading using my broardband at 20mb.

i hope i have given everything needed, but if i have missed anything off please let me know

Thanks everyone in advance

Matt

You're using that mobo and not gaming what a waste. Anyway.....

The main system bandwidth need will come from multitasking numerous applications as you say. But you won't need anything high-end at all.

As you've not stated a preference on o.s (operating system) I'd suggest (strongly) you go with XP for compatibility issues.

CPU: Core 2 Q6600.
Graphics: Nvidia 7600GS.
HDD: 2x Samsung Spinpoint T166 500GB.
RAM: 2gb Corsair XMS2 CL5 (2x1gb dimms)

Err.....3 optical drives......

Anyway, Pioneer DVD-112BK.

Quoted you the samsung's for your hdd's as they offer a much better cost per gigabyte than the higher capacity drives. If you were a gamer I'd be quoting Hitachi Deskstars but as you're not the samsung's run cooler (promoting longevity) and are much quieter (noise will be that much more intrusive considering your quoted usage).

For the cpu hsf (heatsink and fan) i'd be using an Arctic cooling freezer 7 pro (about £15) again, for the noise issue. It'll easily support that cpu at its stock speed.

What size case fans do you need?

The card quoted is just a single card. You won't need SLI as you're not quoting gaming as your usage. Even if you do the odd bit of gaming the 7600GS will handle upto a res of 1280x1024 on older games. SLI is only available on a very small percentage of games anyway.
