Hiya all, I am wondering the best way to connect my pc to my HD tv. If I fit a super sticky graphics card with a HDMI connection on it, would it be within my limited experience to get this up & running to play HD to my tv. Also I have been told that the distance between my PC and the TV of approx 5metres would not be a problem if this is not the case would anybody advise me the best way to do this. Thanks in advance Kev.

The distance should be fine as long as you can get a cable long enough. Also, yes, if your graphics card has an HDMI output, and your TV and HDMI input, it should be fairly easy to get it working.

It doesnt necessarily have to have an HDMI output (on the graphics card) in this day and age it will almost certainly have a DVI, just check that your card is High Def compatible and buy yourself a 5 meter DVI - HDMI lead.

Same thing myself :D

Or that, I guess I was just thinking as simple as possible

Surely its simpler "that" way if the card is HD compatible, as then all your buying is one lead.. instead of a new card and a lead..?

yea, if the PC currently has a card with DVi it would be, but the way I read it I didn't think it did, but I suppose he didn't actually say anywhere, so, haysey9, does your graphics card have a DVI output?

Hiya, thanks for your replies. I assumed that I had a DVI output on my pc, but after you posts I checked and I now dont think that I have one. I have component, digital out s-video,SPDF in & out and many other outputs but I dont think there is a DVI. what a bummer. What would you advice for the best solution... again thanks in advance for your help.K

Just to check, this is what it would look like if you did:

If you're sure that you don't then you need to buy a new graphics card that DOES support HD.
