Default Hello all need help

So, first of all we would like to know for what purpose this PC is going to be.

Gaming, Multimedia, Chatting and Surfing the net, etc...

Now the parts:

RAM - you should go with at leat 800MHz these days
Video Card - 8800GT would be better
PSU - you should buy a good brand. This is due to the fact that the PSU is like the brain of the PC and if it goes wrong, everything else would go wrong too. So you could look at an Enermax (IMO is the best in PSU), ThermalTake, Corsair, OCz and BFG.

The rest seems ok for me. Hope it helped.

The card is dependent on usage though Thunderer. No point quoting a 8800GT at the mo. But I agree if it's a gaming build.

Regardless of that, do away with the 512mb version of the 8600. The extra ram on this card won't see use as it's necessary for higher resolutions which this card doesn't have the power to game at. You're also paying for the extra 256mb ram.

I'd also prefer to see faster ram in there, 667mhz at the minimum but, as Thunderer suggests, 800mhz would be better. Again though, it's usage dependent. If you're using the pc for just general stuff, maybe the odd bit of encoding/gaming the 533mhz ram will suffice. But 667 and 800mhz ddr2 just ain't that much more nowadays.

Bin the psu, it's simply the most important component in any build. It goes and it could take your pc with it. You also don't require 650w for that spec. I'd be looking at a 500w (even with a 8800GT) taking into account the rest of the spec. Coolermaster do some awesome psu's if you're budget minded.

Okay, as specified this has all been spec'd from Ebuyer.

I've left out an os as I'm unsure as to whether or not you want vista, or if you already have an os disc. But add around £70 for this should you need it.

This is a bang for buck build and should do you nicely. I've tried to keep the price reasonable as you don't quote a budget so I'm unsure what you can spend. The case is obviously personal preference, so should you need to just spec a different one.

The card will happily game at 1280x1024/1440x900 (19" screen) and should give playable frame rates on newish titles at 1680x1050 (20-22" screens) but with detail settings turned way down. Should you want a better gaming card for not much more then go for the 256mb version (Asus would be my choice) of the 8800GT. It's only about £20 more and will game at 1680x1050 despite only have 256mb ram because of the decent overclock.

The hdd you chose would be one of my choices; very good drive but you can get the newer ultrastar (slightly faster seek times, 32mb as opposed to 8mb, buffer) for not very much more.

well even if a pc you build is a little more expensive you get more quality from one you build plus if it breaks is easier to fix and i would pay more if it was in a different case
