Well, first off sorry if this is in the wrong place but I wasn't sure which to post this in. I'm on a budget and I want to get optimized performance with the GPU and CPU I've chosen, and I definitely don't want any bottlenecking. First off let me show you the specs I'm most likely not changing:
Mobo: MSI G31M-F Intel G31 Chipset LGA775 FSB1333 DDR2 Ram: 4GB DDR2 PC6400 (2X2GB) HDD: SATA II 16MB Cache 7200RPM (I have a 1TB FTP so I don't need that big of a HDD) PSU: 500Watt So far I'm stuck between two configurations: The 9600GT with an Intel Dual Core E8300 2.83Ghz or the 9800GT (More expensive, but a better buy of course... but what would be optimized?) I MIGHT Get a diff CPU depending on how much more/less it costs. My OTHER CPU choices are the E7300@2.66 Ghz or the E7400@2.8Ghz. Which configuration would work best out of all of those possible? I'm building it on CyberPower and I'm a little tied down choice-wise, so if you have any information please help me out! I'm going to be playing games like CoD4 and CoDWaW, H2v, HaloPC, Frontlines: FoW, and possibly a few other FPS'. Most likely on a lower resolution, but that's just how I like it. I want this thing to be future-proof too, as I'll be off to college soon, so I need something that will last. Thanks in advance for all of your help. -Blade |

E5200 with 4850.
Spending way too much on the CPU and way too much on the GPU will get you very little for gaming. edit: Oh, you're using Cyberpower. Well, just spend as much on the GPU as you can. You're getting a horrid deal though and Cyberpower is notorious for bad parts and service.
